Enterprise Mayor William E. Cooper, members of the Enterprise City Council, and Coffee County Commissioners toured the newly completed Command Sgt. Maj. Bennie G Adkins State Veterans Home ahead of its grand opening this fall. The Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs (ADVA) announced that the ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Friday, September 13th at 10 a.m., followed by an open house for the community.
The 174-bed home will feature six neighborhoods named after Alabama trees: Oak Trace, Longleaf Lane, Poplar Place, Maple Court, Magnolia Way, and Hickory Haven. Each neighborhood includes rooms with private bathrooms, community living rooms, a kitchenette for meals and snacks, and outdoor porches.
